Check your settings: “Attach Files to Report Subscriptions” was switched off!

One of my favorite new features from the Spring ’20 release was the ability to attach files to report subscriptions:

This new feature provided a much better way to receive report results and I was excited to share it with my users.

Tip: It is currently in beta and you should use “at your sole discretion, and make your purchase decisions only on the basis of generally available products and features.”

Setup was easy:

  1. From Setup, enter Reports in the Quick Find box, then select Reports and Dashboards Settings.
  2. Select Let users attach reports as files to report subscription emails in Lightning Experience.
  3. Click Save.

After I enabled the functionality it was met with enthusiasm by my users and we carried on quite happily for a few months. Until one day a user wailed that the option was no longer available!

I went into Settings and discovered “Let users attach reports as files to report subscription emails in Lightning Experience” was unticked.

I definitely have not changed anything…I even went so far as to check the Setup Audit Trail to make sure I hadn’t changed the setting by accident.

So what or who changed it? My company participated in the Spring ’20 closed beta; with the Summer ’20 release, even if you were already signed up, you needed to re-enable this feature.

So, if you had this feature switched on before, I urge you to go and update your settings to make sure it’s still available to your users!

  1. Hello, With Winter 21, the setup “Let users attach reports as files to report subscription emails in Lightning Experience” has been removed from the Report & Dashboard menu. We can not longer activate or desactivate it. I will open a Salesforce case asking for it to be put back as my customer wants to disable it for security reason.
