A few weeks ago I realised it was time to hide the Classic report builder. For what I need in my current role, I can happily use the Lightning report builder and not feel that I’m missing any functionality. If I don’t need the Classic report builder anymore then my users definitely don’t!
You might have noticed from previous posts that I like to keep the interface as simple and clear as possible. Extra tools and buttons that are no longer required cause clutter and, with this in mind, I really wanted to remove the button to create a new report using the Classic report builder.
If you’re also ready to take the plunge, follow these really simple steps to hide the option to create a report using the Classic report builder:
- Navigate to Setup > Home > Feature Settings > Analytics > Reports & Dashboards > Reports and Dashboards Settings (hint – you can get here by typing “report” into the quick find bar)
- Tick the box next to “Hide the embedded Salesforce Classic report builder in Lightning Experience”
- Click ‘Save’
(P.S. Hiding the button does not remove the report builder in any way. It’s still there; you just won’t see the button when in Lightning.)

*Big thanks to my fellow Lightning Champions Earl Major and Lakshmikanth S, for their help. They both went above and beyond to find out how to do this on my behalf.
So simple and so helpful – thank you!
